The teaser for the upcoming film Thama, starring Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana, has been released, and the internet is buzzing with excitement and anticipation. The film, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, is set to release in theaters on Diwali 2025 and is being touted as a "bloody love story" within the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.
Rashmika Mandanna, who plays the role of Tadaka in the film, has expressed her excitement about the project. Following the teaser release, the actress stated that her heart is doing a 'happy dance'. This romantic horror-comedy also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal.
Thama is the fifth installment in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, following Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2. However, director Aditya Sarpotdar has clarified that Thama is not a horror-comedy like the previous installments but rather a romantic comedy infused with supernatural and mythical elements, revolving around the theme of vampires.
The teaser opens with a voiceover by Ayushmann Khurrana, who asks, "Will you be able to live without me for 100 years?" Rashmika Mandanna replies, "Not even for a moment". The teaser then offers glimpses of Ayushmann and Rashmika meeting in a mystical forest, followed by dance numbers and a special performance by Malaika Arora. Nawazuddin Siddiqui appears as the main antagonist, Yakshasan, criticizing the concept of romance. The first look posters of Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok and Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka were released prior to the teaser. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's character poster reveals him as Yakshasan - Andhere ka badshah (the king of darkness)". Paresh Rawal's character is Mr. Ram Bajaj Goyal.
Maddock Films shared the teaser on Instagram with the caption: “Na darr kabhi itna shaktishaali tha, aur na pyaar kabhi itna BLOODY (Fear was never this powerful, and love was never this BLOODY)! Brace yourself this Diwali to witness the first love story in the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe”.
The film's release date is set for October 17, 2025, coinciding with Diwali. Thama is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. The music is composed by Sachin–Jigar.
While some netizens have expressed concerns about the CGI and VFX in the teaser, many are excited about the film's unique blend of horror, romance, and comedy. Some have even compared the film to Twilight, while others predict it will be an "epic" addition to the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe.
In addition to Thama, Rashmika Mandanna has several other upcoming projects, including Pushpa 3 - The Rampage, The Girlfriend, and Mysaa. She was recently seen in Kuberaa.
