A shocking incident has come to light in Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, where a domestic help was caught on camera urinating in a glass and then sprinkling it on utensils. The incident occurred in the town of Nagina, at the home of a businessman, where the woman had been employed for approximately 10 years.
According to reports, the family had grown suspicious of the maid's behavior in recent months. This prompted them to install CCTV cameras in the kitchen without her knowledge. On Wednesday afternoon, the cameras captured the disturbing act: the maid was seen washing dishes, then urinating in a glass and sprinkling the urine on the cleaned utensils.
The family was horrified upon reviewing the CCTV footage. They immediately contacted the police and handed over the video evidence. Police arrested the maid, identified as Sumitra, 52. During questioning, she admitted to the act but offered no explanation for her behavior.
As of now, the police have not received a formal complaint from the family. Authorities have taken action against the woman under Section 151 for disturbing the peace. Nagina Police Station Inspector Sanjay Tomar stated that further legal action would be taken if the family files a written complaint.
The video of the incident has been shared on social media and has gone viral, sparking widespread outrage and discussion. People have expressed shock and disgust, with some labeling the act as inhumane and others suggesting it could be a sign of mental illness.
This is not the first such incident to occur in Uttar Pradesh. Last year, a similar case was reported in Ghaziabad, where a maid was caught mixing urine in the food she prepared for her employers. The family in that case suffered severe liver problems and suspected poisoning, leading them to install CCTV cameras. The maid in the Ghaziabad case confessed to her actions, citing resentment for being frequently scolded.
The Bijnor incident has raised concerns about trust and safety in domestic help situations. For families who employ domestic workers, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and caution, even with long-term employees. It also highlights the need for stricter regulations and monitoring to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
