Tragedy struck the set of Netflix's "Emily in Paris" as assistant director Diego Borella died at the age of 47. Borella collapsed on Friday evening, August 22, while filming the show's upcoming fifth season in Venice.
The incident occurred inside Hotel Danieli, where the crew was preparing to shoot the final scene of the day. On-set medical staff immediately rushed to Borella's aid and attempted to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at around 7:30 PM local time. According to reports, a local doctor confirmed that Borella likely suffered a sudden heart attack.
Production on the fifth season of "Emily in Paris" has been temporarily suspended following the tragic event. The shoot was expected to end on Monday, August 25, and Borella was reportedly set to shoot the final scene before his collapse.
