A Delhi court convicted a man on Saturday for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of a two-year-old girl in 2014. The court stated that the prosecution successfully established the charges against Ravinder, who has been labeled as a "psychopath" and "serial killer".
Ravinder is already serving a life sentence for the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in 2015, a sentence he received in May 2023. In the 2015 case, the court described the crime as a "cold-blooded rape and murder," emphasizing its gruesome and inhumane nature, stating that Ravinder did not deserve any leniency. The court further noted that the crime was "an act of a predator" that had shaken society's conscience, highlighting the helplessness of the child victim.
Additional Sessions Judge Amit Sahrawat presided over the current case, where Ravinder faced charges under IPC Sections 302 (murder) and 363 (kidnapping), filed by the Samaypur Badli police station. Special Public Prosecutors Vineet Dahiya and Aditya Kumar argued that Ravinder is a serial killer with over 25 FIRs registered against him for brutally kidnapping, raping, and murdering minor children. Kumar emphasized Ravinder's psychopathic nature and the pattern of targeting minor children.
The arguments regarding the sentencing for the 2014 conviction are scheduled to commence on August 28. The conviction underscores a series of heinous crimes committed by Ravinder against young, vulnerable victims. The court's previous observations in the 2015 case highlight the severity of his actions and the lasting impact on society.
In December 2024, another Delhi court convicted a man for the 2014 murder of a woman, initially believed to be a minor. Karan Singh was accused of slitting the woman's throat, while a juvenile accomplice recorded the act. The court, led by Additional Sessions Judge Amit Sahrawat, cited the video and postmortem report as conclusive evidence. Singh confessed to the crime, stating he murdered her due to jealousy over her friendships with others.
