The filming of "Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari," directed by Shashank Khaitan and starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, has officially wrapped up. The film, a romantic comedy produced by Dharma Productions and Mentor Disciple Entertainment, is slated for release on October 2, 2025.
To commemorate the occasion, director Shashank Khaitan and the cast shared behind-the-scenes (BTS) pictures, expressing their gratitude and excitement for the upcoming release. Varun Dhawan took to Instagram, posting a series of cheerful photos and videos featuring his co-stars Janhvi Kapoor, Rohit Saraf, Sanya Malhotra, and Maniesh Paul. Dhawan's caption read, "SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI is done!!! Mein phir se aa raha hoon @shashankkhaitan ki direction mein... Oct 2 @dharmamovies". Janhvi Kapoor responded with an affectionate comment, calling him "Mera Sunny sabse sanskari".
Dharma Productions also marked the wrap-up by sharing a vibrant photo dump on X (formerly Twitter), with a caption that read: "Wrapping up #SunnySanskariKiTulsiKumari with a dump full of @DharmaMovies #SunnySanskariKiTulsiKumari in cinemas, 2nd October 2025!". One of the images showed a colorful Holi celebration on set, hinting at the film's festive and romantic vibe.
The cast also shared a joint post, expressing their excitement for the film and inviting the audience to mark their calendars for the release date. "We had too much fun making this, and you're going to have too much fun watching it. Mark your calendars for October 2 coz it's going to be too hot to handle!!!" they wrote. The team was seen posing together in character-themed T-shirts with a celebratory "It's a wrap, almost" banner in the background.
Akshay Oberoi, who plays a pivotal role in the film, described the shoot as a "fun joint family experience". He added, "Working on Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari has truly been a one-of-a-kind experience. The energy on set was electric, and collaborating with Varun, Janhvi, Sanya, and Rohit has been an absolute joy. With Karan Johar producing and Shashank Khaitan directing, this project is filled with heart, laughter, and entertainment".
"Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari" marks the second collaboration between Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, following their 2023 film "Bawaal". The film also reunites Dhawan with director Shashank Khaitan, with whom he has previously worked on successful films like "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" and "Badrinath Ki Dulhania".
The film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan. The music is composed by Pritam, with lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
Shashank Khaitan has also written scripts for "Dil Bechara" (2020) and "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" (2023), and produced the action thriller "Yodha" (2024). Besides "Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari", Khaitan's upcoming projects include "Bedhadak".
