Faissal Khan, younger brother of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, is embarking on a new chapter in his career, stepping behind the camera to direct a multi-starrer film. This announcement comes shortly after Faissal publicly declared that he has cut ties with his family and renounced any financial support from his brother.
Faissal shared his plans with IANS, stating, "On the work front, I'm trying to start a film. I've written a couple of scripts in lockdown. Around fourteen actors have already liked the subject. It's a multi-starrer film". He also clarified his role, "I will be the director, I might do a cameo role in it, but I will be basically directing. Now, I'm moving more towards direction. But if I get some good role, I'll do it".
This isn't Faissal's first foray into directing. He made his directorial debut in 2021 with the psychological thriller "Faactory," in which he also played the lead role. In 2022, he appeared in the Kannada crime action drama "Oppanda". Now, he seems to be focusing on direction as a primary career path.
Faissal's decision to direct a multi-starrer film has generated buzz, especially since he claims that around fourteen actors have already expressed interest in the script. This suggests a potentially star-studded cast and marks a significant step for Faissal as he seeks to establish his own identity in the film industry, independent of his family's shadow.
Looking back, Faissal acknowledges his past experiences, including his role in the 2000 film "Mela," as valuable learning opportunities. He considers it a "proper learning curve" that contributed to his growth as an actor. Although "Mela," which also starred Aamir Khan, was not a commercial success at the time, it gained popularity on television later on. Faissal also worked as an assistant director on films like "Tum Mere Ho" (1990) and "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar" (1994), both starring Aamir.
In the past, Faissal has been open about his challenges and has alleged mistreatment by his family, including claims of being confined and misdiagnosed. He has also spoken about relying on a monthly allowance from Aamir Khan, which he has now renounced after severing ties with his family.
Aamir Khan and his family have responded to Faissal's allegations with a public statement, expressing distress over his portrayal of family members and emphasizing that decisions regarding Faissal were made collectively with medical professionals, prioritizing his well-being. The family urged the media to show empathy and avoid turning a private matter into gossip.
Despite the personal challenges, Faissal Khan appears determined to forge his own path in Bollywood as a director. With a multi-starrer film in the works and interest from several actors, this new venture could mark a turning point in his career.
