Rumors surrounding the potential divorce of Bollywood actor Govinda and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, have been circulating, sparking reactions from family members. The couple, who have been married for 38 years since March 11, 1987, and have two children, Tina and Yashvardhan, have faced such speculation before.
Recently, the rumors resurfaced after Sunita Ahuja addressed the divorce talks in an emotional vlog on YouTube, leading to increased media and fan speculation. Reports alleged that Sunita filed a divorce petition in Bandra Family Court on December 5, 2024, citing "adultery, cruelty, and desertion" under Section 13 of the Hindu Marriage Act. It was also reported that Govinda was summoned to court but only appeared after a notice was issued in May 2025 and that the couple has been undergoing court-mandated counseling since June 2025.
However, sources close to the family have refuted these claims. Govinda's lawyer, Lalit Bindra, addressed the media, stating, "There is no case, everything is being settled". He dismissed the reports as old news, echoing similar clarifications made months prior when Sunita had initially filed for divorce. Bindra stated that the couple is "going strong" and will always be together.
Amidst these swirling rumors, Govinda and Sunita's daughter, Tina Ahuja, has spoken out. When questioned about the divorce reports, Tina stated, "It's all rumours" and added, "I don't pay attention to these rumours". Further pressed on how her parents are dealing with the situation, she responded, "Kya bolun mein? He is not even in the country". Despite the speculations, Tina expressed gratitude for the support her family has been receiving from the media, fans, and loved ones, stating, "I feel blessed to have a beautiful family".
Govinda's manager, Shashi Sinha, also addressed the rumors, reinforcing that everything is being settled and that the family will celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi festival together, with Sunita overseeing the preparations.
Previous reports in February had suggested that disagreements and differing lifestyles were causing a rift between Govinda and Sunita, with some alleging Govinda's closeness to a younger actress as a contributing factor. These rumors gained traction when Sunita revealed she had been spending her birthdays alone for the past 12 years and that they have been living in separate houses. A Reddit post further fueled the speculation, attributing the alleged divorce to Govinda's extramarital affair. However, Sunita Ahuja's manager, Sadia Solkar, has also denied the reports of a strained marriage.
