Kylian Mbappé has withdrawn his criminal complaint against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for moral harassment and attempted extortion. The complaint, initially filed on May 16, 2025, led to a preliminary investigation and the appointment of two examining judges on June 24. Mbappé's legal team announced the decision on Monday, signaling a shift towards de-escalating legal tensions and focusing on sporting matters.

The complaint stemmed from PSG's handling of Mbappé's situation in the summer of 2023, when he was excluded from the first team. Mbappé refused to agree to a new contract, leading to his suspension from training sessions and matches. He was later reinstated following "constructive negotiations". Mbappé believed he was sidelined and made to train with players the club was trying to offload.

Despite withdrawing the moral harassment complaint, Mbappé is continuing his case against PSG in the French labor courts. He is pursuing €55 million in unpaid wages and bonuses linked to the final months of his time in Paris. PSG claims that Mbappé's contract was 'legally amended' and that he reneged on commitments when he agreed to join Real Madrid. PSG has also filed a counterclaim, requesting €98 million from Mbappé due to "delays" and "misleading conduct" during negotiations.

The dispute originated in August 2023 when Mbappé was excluded from the PSG squad for refusing to extend his contract. PSG says that Mbappé agreed to give up €55 million in bonuses when he decided to rejoin the squad, but his legal team claims that the agreement was never officially put in writing. Mbappé's lawyers secured a court order in April 2025 to freeze €55 million of PSG's funds.

In recent weeks, relations between Mbappé and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi have softened. Al-Khelaïfi wished Mbappé "the best at Real Madrid, from the bottom of my heart". PSG and Real Madrid are scheduled to meet in the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup, potentially leading to a public thaw between Mbappé and Al-Khelaïfi.

Mbappé joined Real Madrid last summer after seven seasons with PSG. He scored 256 goals in 308 games for the French club.
