Goldman Sachs' "10,000 Women" initiative is significantly expanding its reach in India through new partnerships with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow Enterprise Incubation Centre. These institutions will join the existing academic partner, IIM Bangalore – NSRCEL, in providing women entrepreneurs with the essential skills and knowledge to grow their businesses.

The "10,000 Women" program is a global initiative aimed at fostering economic growth by providing women entrepreneurs with business education, networking opportunities, and access to capital. Since 2008, the initiative has trained over 3,800 women entrepreneurs in India. The expansion aims to build upon this foundation, with a goal to graduate 1,000 women entrepreneurs in India over the next year. Furthermore, the program aims to increase its overall intake from approximately 3,800 to 10,000 women entrepreneurs by 2033. The program offers a fully-funded three-month management and business education for entrepreneurs seeking to scale their businesses. Participants benefit from targeted, practical business education, mentoring, and access to valuable networks. Upon graduation, they become part of a nationwide community of over 3,800 women entrepreneurs.

Sonjoy Chatterjee, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs' business in India, emphasized the company's commitment to women entrepreneurs in India, stating that the expanded partnerships with premier business schools will create a powerful combination of education, mentorship, and networks. He believes these entrepreneurs will become pillars of India's economic growth.

This expansion aligns with India's "Viksit Bharat 2047" vision for a developed India, seeking to unlock the potential of women entrepreneurs to drive the nation's growth. Professor Bharat Bhasker, Director of IIM Ahmedabad, highlighted the importance of addressing the structural barriers women entrepreneurs face, particularly in accessing capital and professional networks. He believes that by combining academic expertise with the initiative's global reach, they can strengthen the ecosystem for women entrepreneurs, fostering innovation, driving growth, and empowering women to scale their businesses and become leaders in the Indian economy.
