A Navi Mumbai resident has been allegedly defrauded of ₹1.47 crore in a decade-old flat scam. Police have filed a case against a real estate company director and two accomplices, who are accused of deceiving the 57-year-old transport firm owner with promises of multiple flats.

According to officials, the victim, a resident of CBD Belapur in Navi Mumbai, was lured between June 2011 and January 2016 with the prospect of owning six flats in exchange for the hefty sum. The accused individuals assured the victim that a formal sale agreement would be executed, and possession of the flats would be handed over promptly. However, the victim received neither the promised flats nor a refund of his money.

law enforcement authorities have registered a case against the real estate company director and his two associates involved. The charges include violations of legal provisions related to cheating.

Authorities are urging potential property buyers to exercise caution and conduct thorough verification of property documents before making any financial commitments. Officials are emphasizing the importance of due diligence in financial transactions to prevent becoming victims of similar scams.
