PM Modi's Arunachal Visit: Unveiling ₹5,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects to Boost Development in the Region.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Arunachal Pradesh today, September 22, 2025, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹5,000 crore. These projects span across sectors like hydropower, connectivity, health, and culture, and are aimed at boosting infrastructure, enhancing the quality of life, and driving economic growth in the region.

PM Modi is scheduled to arrive at the Donyi Polo Airport in Hollongi around 9 am, after which he will fly to the Raj Bhavan in Itanagar by helicopter. From there, he will proceed to Indira Gandhi Park, where he will unveil the development projects and address a public gathering. Security has been beefed up in the capital city and its outskirts in anticipation of the Prime Minister's visit.

A significant focus of the visit will be on harnessing the hydroelectric potential of Arunachal Pradesh. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stones for two major hydropower projects: the Tato-I Hydro Electric Project (186 MW) and the Heo Hydro Electric Project (240 MW). These projects, with a combined cost of over ₹3,700 crore, will be developed on the Yarjep River in the Shi Yomi district. The Tato-I project is a joint venture between the Arunachal Pradesh government and the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) and is estimated to cost ₹1,750 crore. It is expected to generate approximately 802 million units of electricity annually. The Heo project, also to be developed by the state government and NEEPCO, is estimated to cost ₹1,939 crore and is expected to produce 1,000 million units of electricity each year. These projects are located in the Siyom sub-basin and are expected to strengthen the national renewable energy grid and enhance energy security in the region.

In addition to the hydropower projects, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Convention Center in Tawang. Built under the PM-DevINE scheme at a cost of ₹145.37 crore, the center has a capacity to host over 1,500 people and is designed to meet global standards. Situated at an altitude of over 9,820 feet, the convention center is expected to boost tourism and cultural activities in the region by providing a venue for national and international conferences, cultural festivals, and exhibitions.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will launch multiple infrastructure projects worth over ₹1,290 crore, covering connectivity, health, fire safety, and essential facilities like working women's hostels. These initiatives are aimed at stimulating economic activity, improving the quality of life, and enhancing connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh.

Following his engagements in Arunachal Pradesh, PM Modi will travel to Tripura, where he will inaugurate the redeveloped Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Matabari, under the PRASAD scheme.
