Jon Bon Jovi is embracing his new role as a grandfather with enthusiasm, even if it means being a little overbearing. The rock legend, 63, has openly shared his joy about the recent addition to his family, courtesy of his son Jake Bongiovi, 23, and daughter-in-law, Millie Bobby Brown, 21. The couple adopted a baby girl this summer, marking a new chapter in their relationship and in the Bon Jovi family.
In a TikTok clip from Bunnie XO's podcast, Dumb Blonde, Bon Jovi described his new role as "crazy, but great. Wonderful". He expressed the immediate connection he felt with the baby, saying, "They adopted a girl, we met the baby obviously and immediately that becomes your grandchild, you know what I mean? Your baby".
The "Livin' On A Prayer" singer also confessed to already being a doting, perhaps slightly demanding, grandfather. "It's beautiful. I want to see pictures, like, every other day," he admitted. "I'm that pain in the butt guy already and, yeah, it's cool".
Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi's relationship began in 2021 after meeting on Instagram. They quickly became close, and their engagement was announced in April 2023. The couple officially tied the knot in a private ceremony in May 2024. Jon Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea, along with Brown's parents, were present at the intimate event. Later, in September 2024, they celebrated their union with a larger wedding ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. "Forever and always, your wife," Brown captioned an Instagram post in October 2024, sharing photos from the wedding.
Bon Jovi has publicly expressed his support for Millie and Jake's marriage, despite their young age. He praised Brown's maturity and strong work ethic, noting that she "comes from a family where her parents are still together and they married very young". He added, "Her and Jake fell in love and we just thought, 'OK, we'll support this and it's working out'".
The adoption announcement coincided with the couple's first wedding anniversary. On August 21, 2025, Brown and Bongiovi shared a joint post on Instagram, writing, "This summer we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3. Love, Millie and Jake Bongiovi".
Brown had previously spoken about her desire to become a mother, expressing openness to both biological children and adoption. During an appearance on the Smartless podcast, she said, "I really want a big family".
The wedding in Tuscany was a dreamy celebration held at Villa Cetinale, a 17th-century Baroque villa. Actor Matthew Modine, Brown's Stranger Things co-star, officiated the ceremony. Brown wore a custom Galia Lahav gown with a long train and veil. The event was planned and styled by Camilla Boniek, a global event planner.
As Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi embrace parenthood, Jon Bon Jovi is clearly relishing his role as a "pain in the butt" grandpa, showering his new grandchild with love and attention.
