As Ganesh Chaturthi 2025 draws to a close, devotees across Mumbai and beyond are preparing to bid adieu to Lord Ganesha with the traditional Ganesh Visarjan ceremony. This year, Anant Chaturdashi, marking the final day of the 10-day festival, falls on Saturday, September 6th. The city is already immersed in a vibrant atmosphere, with preparations underway for the processions and immersions that characterize this emotional farewell.

Like every year, many Bollywood celebrities have welcomed Ganpati Bappa into their homes with great enthusiasm. Social media is buzzing with images and videos of stars celebrating the festival, offering glimpses into their traditions and festive spirit.

Many celebrities including Salman Khan, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Sonali Bendre, Dia Mirza and Esha Deol celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi.

Like every year, Salman Khan celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi surrounded by his family. Other celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Suniel Shetty, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Sonam Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Arjun Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt also shared their wishes.

The Visarjan ceremony is a significant event, symbolizing the deity's return to his heavenly abode and the cycle of creation and dissolution. It is a time of mixed emotions, with joy and devotion intertwined with the sadness of bidding farewell to Lord Ganesha. The air is filled with chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya" (Lord Ganesha, return quickly next year), as devotees express their hope for his swift return.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made extensive arrangements to ensure a safe and eco-friendly Visarjan. This year, 288 artificial ponds have been set up across the city to ease congestion at natural water bodies and encourage environmentally conscious celebrations. These temporary ponds are spread across all wards. In South Mumbai, immersion facilities are available at iconic locations like Gateway of India, Girgaon Chowpatty and Banganga Tank. Central Mumbai has arrangements at Veer Sambhaji Maidan in Dongri, Mumba Devi Udyan and Veer Jijamata Bhosale Udyan. The Western suburbs will have artificial ponds at Lokhandwala, Andheri Sports Complex, Juhu Chowpatty and Powai's Sambhaji Maharaj Maidan.

Devotees are also encouraged to use eco-friendly idols made of clay or natural materials to minimize environmental damage. For those preferring to celebrate at home, the option of performing Visarjan in a clean tub or tank with a clay or seed idol is also available.

The Visarjan processions are a spectacle of music, dance, and vibrant colors, as devotees accompany the idols to the immersion sites. The Mumbai Police and civic authorities are working to manage the crowds and ensure the smooth flow of traffic during the Visarjan period.

As the city prepares for the final farewell, the spirit of Ganesh Chaturthi remains strong, with communities coming together to celebrate faith, unity, and the blessings of Lord Ganesha. The Ganesh Visarjan 2025 is expected to be a grand affair, marked by both traditional fervor and a growing awareness of environmental responsibility.
