Ashish Kapoor, an Indian television actor, has been arrested in Pune in connection with a rape case filed against him in Delhi. The arrest was made on September 3, 2025, following a complaint by a woman who accused him of sexual assault during a house party in Delhi in August.

Kapoor, who is 40 years old, was born on October 17, 1984. Before venturing into acting, he trained as an interior designer. He began his television career in 2010 with Ssshhh… Phir Koi Hai, a horror series. He is known for portraying diverse characters in several television shows, including Love Marriage Ya Arranged Marriage, Chand Chupa Badal Mein, Dekha Ek Khwaab, Molkki Rishton Ki Agnipariksha, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Woh Apna Sa, and Bandini. He gained significant recognition for his role as Yuvraj Rajkumar Udayveer Singh in Dekha Ek Khwaab. In Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, he played Nikhil Deora.

According to police reports, the complainant met Kapoor on Instagram, and he invited her to a party at a friend's house in Delhi during the second week of August. The woman alleged that Kapoor sexually assaulted her in the bathroom during the party. An FIR was initially registered on August 11 against Kapoor, his friend, his friend's wife, and two other men. However, the woman later revised her statement, accusing only Kapoor of the rape. She also alleged that the act was video-graphed, but police have not yet found any such footage. The woman further claimed that Kapoor's friend's wife assaulted her after she exited the bathroom.

The police investigation involved tracking Kapoor's movements from Delhi to Goa and then to Pune, where he was eventually apprehended. Authorities analyzed CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, which reportedly confirmed that Kapoor and the woman entered the bathroom together and remained inside for a considerable time. When other guests knocked on the door, an argument ensued. The host's wife ultimately made the PCR call to the police. The case, which was initially registered as gang rape, may be modified to a charge of rape as the investigation progresses.

Kapoor's personal life has also attracted media attention. He was previously in a relationship with actress Priyal Gor, his Dekha Ek Khwaab co-star. He was also engaged to Albanian model Ilda Kroni. In April 2021, Kapoor got engaged to producer Pearl Grey, but they broke up after more than a year.

As of September 3, 2025, Ashish Kapoor is in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
