Gujarat has recorded 102.89% of its expected rainfall this monsoon season, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). The South Gujarat region has received the highest amount of rainfall, with 107.99% of the seasonal average.

Other regions in Gujarat have also experienced significant rainfall. East-Central Gujarat has recorded 107.34% of its average rainfall, while North Gujarat has received 106.50%. Saurashtra recorded 91.29% of average rainfall.

In the 24-hour period ending at 6 a.m. on September 7, 2025, 139 talukas in Gujarat received significant rainfall. Kaprada taluka topped the list with 10 inches of rainfall, while Poshina and Dharampur talukas recorded 6 inches each. Radhanpur, Umargam, Bhachau, Lakhni, Talod, and Palanpur received over 4 inches of rain. Additionally, 15 talukas recorded 3 inches of rainfall, and 38 talukas received around 2 inches. 75 other talukas across the state reported between 1 inch to half an inch of rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier predicted that the monsoon would likely withdraw from Gujarat around September 25, with sporadic showers expected to continue until then.

As of September 4, 2025, Gujarat had already received an average of 92.64% of its seasonal rainfall. The widespread rainfall has filled reservoirs, and 113 out of 206 dams in the state are on high alert. 82 dams are filled to 100 percent capacity, and 68 are between 70 and 100 percent. The Sardar Sarovar Dam, considered Gujarat's lifeline, currently holds more than 89 percent of its total storage capacity.

The abundant rainfall has benefited agriculture in the region. As of September 1, 2025, 96.29% of the cultivable area had been sown under Kharif crops. Groundnut leads with 22 lakh hectares under cultivation, followed by cotton on 20 lakh hectares and paddy on over 8 lakh hectares. The timely and sufficient rains have boosted sowing and improved crop growth, particularly in Saurashtra and North Gujarat, where groundnut and cotton dominate. The assured water supply is also expected to support a strong rabi season, especially for wheat.
