Vikram Bhatt is in mourning following the death of his mother, Varsha Bhatt, who passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the age of 85. Reports indicate that she had been battling a prolonged illness and ultimately succumbed to multiple organ failure. The cremation took place on the same day at the Versova crematorium, with close family members in attendance.

The news of Varsha Bhatt's passing was initially reported by various sources and later confirmed by Vikram Bhatt's team. While the family has not released an official statement detailing the specific cause of death, it has been widely reported that she had been unwell for some time.

On Sunday, September 7, 2025, Vikram Bhatt took to Instagram to share an emotional note, expressing his grief and offering a prayer for his mother. Alongside a picture of his mother from her younger days, he noted her lifespan, born on November 24, 1950, and passing away on September 6, 2025.

In his heartfelt message, Vikram wrote, "My mother Varsha Bhatt, passed away on the morning of 6th September 2025. She was in pain for the last few months and I am certain she is in a better place now". He further reflected on the nature of grief, describing it as "cyclic," with moments of intense sorrow interspersed with periods of respite as the "drudgery of life takes over". He acknowledged that while time is said to heal all wounds, that time had not yet come for him, wondering if it ever would.

Vikram also expressed his gratitude to those who shared in his pain. The filmmaker was seen in Mumbai, visibly heartbroken, greeting the paparazzi with folded hands while keeping his grief private.

Varsha Bhatt was the wife of well-known cinematographer Pravin Bhatt, who is known for his work in iconic films such as "Sadak," "Agneepath," "Aashiqui," "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke," and "Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin". Vikram Bhatt began his career in the film industry at the age of 14, assisting director Mukul Anand. He is known for directing horror films such as "1920", "Shaapit", and "Haunted - 3D". His most recent film was "Tumko Meri Kasam".

In a recent interview, Vikram Bhatt spoke about his struggles with depression and an autoimmune condition called axial spondyloarthritis, drawing inspiration from celebrities like Deepika Padukone and Samantha Ruth Prabhu who have shared their own health challenges. He is currently preparing for his next project, "Haunted: Ghosts of the Past". He was also gearing up for the sequel to his 2011 release "Haunted – 3D", titled "Haunted 3D: Ghosts of The Past".
