"Meditations: Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama" weaves together spoken word and sound, presenting meditative insights paired with music. It celebrates shared human values and reflects both India's classical heritage and international traditions, highlighting the universality of the Dalai Lama's message.
Amjad Ali Khan and his sons expressed their humility in sharing this collaboration with the Dalai Lama, who they consider a guiding light. They stated that his message of peace and compassion has inspired their music and lives for many years and that creating the project with Kabir Sehgal has been a privilege. They hope the music will serve as a reminder of the importance of peace, kindness, and hope.
Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash represent the seventh generation of the Senia Bangash School of music. They are known for carrying forward their musical legacy while remaining in sync with tradition and contemporary times. Ayaan Ali Bangash first performed with his father at the Dalai Lama's Sacred Music Festival inauguration in 2000.
The album consists of ten tracks: Heart, Oneness, Harmony, Kindness, Water, Mind, Health, Peace, Essence, and Journey. Maggie Rogers noted she was "very honored" to be on the project, adding that all proceeds will benefit the Dalai Lama's foundation, which promotes basic human values, mutual understanding among religions, peace and non-violence, and environmental protection.
