Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor once shared an anecdote about an encounter with Hollywood actress Natalie Portman that left him "heartbroken". In a 2016 interview with CNN News18, Kapoor recounted the incident, which took place at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Kapoor, a self-confessed fan of Portman, spotted her while she was on the phone and visibly upset. Overcome by the moment, he approached her with the intention of expressing his admiration for her work. "I've run behind Natalie Portman at Tribeca (Film Festival). She was on the phone and she was crying. I went quickly behind her and said, 'I love your…'".

However, before Kapoor could complete his sentence, Portman, seemingly caught off guard and perhaps overwhelmed by her emotional state, turned to him and curtly told him to "Get lost!". Kapoor admitted that this abrupt dismissal stung. "So I've had my heart broken but I would still chase them," he confessed.

Despite the less-than-pleasant encounter, Kapoor's admiration for Portman remained undeterred. He humorously added that even if he were to run into her again, he would still ask for a picture. "Par aisa nahi hai ki main kuch kum fan ban gaya. Kal bhi agar woh mujhe sadak pe mil jaaye, toh main bolunga, 'Ek photo, ek photo'".

In the same interview, Kapoor also shared another story about his encounter with acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino. While shooting for "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil" in London, Kapoor learned that Tarantino was in the same building promoting "The Hateful Eight". Eager to meet the director, Kapoor rushed to meet him, hoping for a picture and an autograph.

Kapoor waited for about half an hour, and upon seeing Tarantino, he called out to him. However, Tarantino simply looked at him, entered his car, and drove off. Despite being ignored, Kapoor wasn't disheartened and was teased by the crew of "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil". He expressed his understanding of artists being "weird" and acknowledged Tarantino's significant influence on his work, citing films like "Reservoir Dogs," "Kill Bill," and "Pulp Fiction".

These anecdotes reveal Kapoor's candidness and his perspective on celebrity interactions, even when they don't go as planned.
