Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has launched its 4.0 update, introducing a wave of new content and features. The update aims to deliver a fresh and engaging experience for players with a mix of spooky themes, tactical enhancements, and India-inspired elements.

India's First Battleground: Stepwell

A major highlight of the BGMI 4.0 update is the introduction of Stepwell, the first-ever battleground designed in India. Located within the Erangel map, Stepwell blends cultural aesthetics with a multi-tiered, strategic combat environment. Its design encourages vertical gameplay, with twisting corridors, sniper sightlines, and ambush spots that demand precise movement and coordinated squad tactics. From October 18 to 24, players can trigger Diwali fireworks within Stepwell, adding a festive dimension to the battles.

Ghost Gameplay and Spectral Companions

The 4.0 update introduces a unique "Ghost Gameplay" mechanic. Players can now summon spectral companions, known as "Ghostie," possessing both active and passive skills to aid them in battle. These skills range from offensive capabilities like a "Guardian Shield" and "Floating Balloon" for aerial maneuvers to support abilities such as armor repair ("Armorer"), damage reduction ("Ghost Helm"), enemy scanning, speed boosts, and healing. Even after elimination, players can continue to support their team as "Prankster Ghosts," using limited-energy skills like bombs, scans, and shields.

New Survival Challenges

BGMI 4.0 introduces the "Unfail" mode, a new asymmetrical survival challenge. In this 4v1 mode, one stealth-powered player hunts down four survivors who must work together to escape. This creates a tense and strategic experience that requires teamwork and cunning.

Spooky Soiree and Halloween Theme

The update brings a Halloween-inspired "Spooky Soiree" theme, introducing haunted mansions with floating platforms and pumpkin-themed enemies. Players can explore eerie corridors, botanical gardens, and mysterious labyrinths within the Wraithmoor Mansion. A "Magic Broom" vehicle allows for gliding across short distances, offering a creative way to navigate maps.

Additional Features and Improvements

  • New Weapon: The Mortar is a new, high-damage weapon that can be used for both close and long-range targeting, adding a new layer of tactical depth.
  • Improved Performance: The update includes smoother animations, optimized networking, and better performance on mid-range devices.
  • Enhanced Customization: Revamped stocks and foregrips offer more responsive shooting mechanics, while adjusted attachments provide more meaningful customization options.
  • Diwali Celebrations: In addition to the fireworks in Stepwell, players can anticipate the Diwali Exchange Center (October 3-23) with opportunities to earn rewards.
  • Other Additions: The update also sees the return of Weekend GRIND log-in rewards.

The BGMI 4.0 update is currently available for Android users via the Google Play Store and iOS users via the App Store.
