A tragic incident near Prahladpura, in the Shivdaspura police station area of Jaipur, has claimed the lives of seven people from two families. The victims were returning from Haridwar, where they had been performing the last rites of a deceased relative.

The accident occurred when the speeding car they were traveling in lost control. The vehicle hit a divider and plunged approximately 16 feet into a water-filled underpass. According to police reports, the overspeeding led to the driver losing control of the vehicle on the overbridge. The car then crushed a divider before falling into the underpass.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial reports suggest that overspeeding was a significant factor in the crash. The impact of the fall into the underpass resulted in fatal injuries for the seven occupants of the vehicle.

This unfortunate event adds to a series of recent accidents in and around Jaipur. In one instance, four members of a family from Madhya Pradesh died on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district while returning from a funeral in Rishikesh. In another accident, a man was killed, and his wife and son were injured while traveling to Jaipur to attend the last rites of his father. In June 2025, a newly-wed couple was among five people killed in a car-truck collision on the Jaipur highway.
