A senior official from the Union Finance Ministry, Navjot Singh, tragically died in a road accident on Sunday near the Delhi Cantonment metro station. The accident occurred when a BMW allegedly hit the motorcycle he was riding with his wife.
Navjot Singh was the Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs. He was a resident of Hari Nagar.
According to the police, they received multiple calls about a traffic jam near metro pillar number 67 on the Dhaula Kuan-Delhi Cantt metro stretch. Upon arriving at the scene, they found an overturned BMW and a motorcycle near the road divider.
Eyewitnesses reported that a woman was driving the BMW when it struck the motorcycle from behind. Following the collision with the BMW, the motorcycle further hit a bus. Singh and his wife were taken to Nuelife Hospital in GTB Nagar. Singh succumbed to his injuries. His wife is currently receiving medical treatment. The occupants of the BMW also sustained injuries.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The accident caused a significant traffic jam in the area, which has since been cleared.
