Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that India has proven Winston Churchill wrong by remaining united and progressing on a path of development, while the United Kingdom is facing the possibility of division. Bhagwat made these remarks while addressing a book release function in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Bhagwat referenced a statement attributed to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who believed India would not survive as a unified nation after the end of British rule and would be divided. Bhagwat asserted that this prediction was incorrect. He added, "Now England itself is coming to the stage of division, but we will not be divided. We will move forward. We were once divided, but we will unite that again".

Bhagwat emphasized India's civilizational strength, which he said is rooted in faith, belief, and action. He stated that India is driven by faith in its traditional philosophy of knowledge, action, and devotion, which has allowed it to move forward on the path of development and defy predictions to the contrary. He also highlighted that "Bharat has always been a land of faith, where men of action and logic have walked together".

Bhagwat commented on the state of global affairs, noting that there was no global strife when India was the world leader for 3,000 years. He attributed conflicts in the world to personal interests, stating that these interests create problems and divisions. He suggested that self-serving motives should be set aside for the betterment of humanity and progress. Bhagwat also said that the Indian culture spreads the message of unity by rising above the distinction of "mine and yours".

Bhagwat's comments come at a time when the Indian economy recorded a growth rate of 7.80 per cent in the April-June quarter. He said that India is proving wrong many predictions that doubted its growth and development.

Mohan Bhagwat has been the Sarsanghchalak (Chief) of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since 2009.
