BSF soldier and accomplice arrested in connection with the murder of a former CRPF officer.

A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan and an accomplice have been apprehended in connection with the murder of a former Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper in Ashoknagar, West Bengal. The BSF personnel, identified as Abhijit Halder, and his friend, Shambhu Pal, are accused of killing the ex-CRPF jawan, whose body was discovered on August 4, 2025, near a road in the Ashoknagar area.

According to police reports, the deceased was identified as a former CRPF jawan from Nandigram, Medinipur. It was reported that he had been discharged from his duties due to mental health issues. The police are investigating the motive behind the murder.

The investigation gained momentum when a bus ticket found near the body led authorities to the accused. Halder was arrested in Uttar Pradesh and subsequently brought to Ashoknagar for further questioning. The police are seeking to uncover the complete details of the crime and the reasons that led to it. The two men were presented in court in Barasat, where police requested their custody to investigate the matter further.
