In a shocking incident in Haryana's Palwal district, a drunk police head constable allegedly ran over three minor brothers who were walking home from school on Monday afternoon. The tragic event resulted in the death of two of the brothers, while the third is in critical condition.

The incident occurred in Uttawar village between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM when the children, accompanied by their grandfather, Aas Mohammad, were returning home from school on foot. According to police reports, the speeding car, driven by Narender Singh, a head constable posted as a reader in the Nuh DSP's office, struck the children from behind.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Ayan, 13, a Class 4 student, and Mohammad Ahsaan, 9, who was in Class 3. Their younger sibling, Mohammad Arjaan, 7, a Class 2 student, sustained critical injuries and was referred to PGIMS, Rohtak, for treatment.

Eyewitnesses stated that Narender Singh was in uniform and appeared to be drunk at the time of the accident. According to Tarif Hussain, a local villager, Singh was behaving arrogantly even after the accident and seemed clearly intoxicated. Villagers chased and apprehended Singh after the crash and handed him over to the police. Locals also reported that instead of waiting for an ambulance, they arranged private transport to take the children to the hospital.

Aas Mohammad, the grandfather of the children, recounted the horrifying incident, stating that they were walking on the extreme left of the road when the speeding car suddenly came from behind and hit the children.

The victim's father, Shahbuddin, accused Narender of misusing his uniform to intimidate people after the crash and stated that he didn't stop after hitting the children and even argued with villagers.

The incident has sparked outrage and protests in the area. Villagers followed the police vehicle carrying the accused, demanding that his medical test be conducted in their presence to prevent any cover-up. Some even blocked the road with motorcycles, prompting police to take the family along to the station.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Hathin) Mohinder Singh confirmed that Singh was apprehended by villagers and handed over to the police. He added that Singh was in uniform and was on his way home to Pahad village, about 10km from the accident site, in his newly purchased car. Mohinder Singh stated that prima facie, it appeared that Singh was drunk and a medical examination would be conducted to confirm.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) based on the grandfather's complaint. The police have seized the vehicle, and an investigation is underway. The bodies of the deceased children were handed over to their family after an autopsy.
