The recently released romantic drama Aabeer Gulaal, starring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, has garnered mixed to negative reviews from critics. While the film has been released worldwide, it will not be released in India.

Many critics have found the film to be underwhelming, with a predictable storyline and an over-reliance on nostalgia. Haroon Rashid from BBC Asian Network described it as "one of the most frustrating romantic dramas" he has watched in a long time, criticizing its cheap look and incoherent storyline. He felt that the film was an injustice to the talent of the actors involved.

Manjusha Radhakrishnan of Gulf News noted that Aabeer Gulaal is "bloated" and "padded with unnecessary segues that drag the runtime". She also criticized Lisa Haydon's cameo, stating that it "adds nothing" to the film. Another reviewer stated that the film relies heavily on the "YRF and Dharma universe," filled with dance competitions, retro songs, and nods to classic films like DDLJ and Chandni, ultimately turning nostalgia into a cliché.

Despite the criticisms, some reviewers pointed out redeeming qualities. Gulf News mentioned that the performances and chemistry between the leads helped rescue the film from mediocrity. One reviewer highlighted the film's final 15 minutes, praising the director's bold choices and the climax that avoids typical rom-com clichés. Bollywood Hungama stated, "AABEER GULAAL is a breezy family entertainer, worth a watch for those who enjoy feel-good cinema with a touch of desi soul".

In other news, Aneet Padda, fresh off the success of Saiyaara, is set to star in an intense courtroom drama titled Nyaya. The film, directed by Nitya Mehra, will also feature Fatima Sana Shaikh and Arjun Mathur in pivotal roles. Nyaya is expected to tackle themes of justice, courage, and women's empowerment.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Nyaya will center around Aneet's character as a young survivor who takes a brave stand against a powerful spiritual leader who has misbehaved with her. A source involved with the film said that Aneet's character is central to the story, bringing emotional depth and highlighting themes of justice and power imbalance. The film will follow an intense courtroom drama that fights against injustice for women.

Nyaya marks a significant departure for Aneet Padda, who played a young writer in the romantic drama Saiyaara. The film's cast also includes Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, Raghubir Yadav, and Rajesh Sharma. Nitya Mehra and her husband, Karan Kapadia, have previously worked with Aneet on the show Big Girls Don't Cry. Saiyaara, which earned over Rs 300 crore in India, recently garnered renewed attention after its re-release on Netflix, with praise for its storytelling, emotions, music, and the chemistry between the lead actors.
