The West Bengal government is set to disburse September salaries early to its employees in anticipation of the Durga Puja festivities. This move will bring cheer to state government employees, pensioners, and beneficiaries of various government schemes. The Finance Department of West Bengal has issued a notification to this effect, scheduling the early disbursement of salaries, pensions, and other financial assistance for September 2025.

The decision to prepone the salary disbursement is primarily due to the extended holidays for Durga Puja, with state government offices remaining closed from September 26th to October 7th, 2025. To avoid financial inconvenience to employees and pensioners during this period, the Finance Department has arranged for these advance payments.

As per the memorandum issued by the Finance Department, salaries for September 2025, including Grant-in-Aid salary, wages, remuneration, stipend, and honorarium, will be paid on September 24th and 25th, 2025. Pension payments for retired government employees for September 2025 will be disbursed on October 1st, 2025. Financial assistance under schemes like "Jai Bangla" and "Lakshmir Bhandar" will also be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on October 1st, 2025.

All Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and Administrators of Deposit Accounts have been instructed to submit the necessary bills/advices to the Treasuries well in advance to facilitate this process.

In related news, the central government has also decided to disburse salaries in advance to its employees in West Bengal in view of Durga Puja. The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CGA) of the Union Finance Ministry has issued an order to ensure that employees posted in West Bengal receive their September salaries before September 30th. The payment for the month of September will be made on September 26th, 2025. This decision will benefit all central government employees, industrial employees, and pensioners in the state. The disbursed salary/wages/pension is to be treated as advance payments and will be subject to adjustment after the full month's salary/wages/pension of each employee/pensioner is determined. The adjustment, if any, will be made without exception from the salary/wages/ pension of the month of September 2025.
