Inspector General (IG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, stated on Saturday, September 27, 2025, that terrorists are present on launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), waiting for opportunities to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley. According to Yadav, security forces are on high alert and prepared to thwart any such attempts.

Yadav highlighted the persistent attempts to infiltrate terrorists into the valley, particularly before the onset of winter. He noted that infiltration attempts typically increase before snowfall, as terrorists aim to exploit the limited opportunities available during the winter months. Despite these efforts, Yadav asserted that the alertness and preparedness of the security forces make infiltration difficult.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Yadav specified that the presence of terrorists has been observed on launch pads across the LoC, particularly in the Bandipora and Kupwara sectors within the BSF's area of responsibility (AOR). He explained that these terrorists are constantly seeking opportunities to infiltrate, often waiting for favorable conditions such as inclement weather to make their move.

Yadav emphasized that the Army and the BSF are working in coordination, maintaining a strong presence along the LoC with the assistance of advanced surveillance technology. He stated that the security forces have successfully foiled two infiltration attempts this year, attributing their success to diligent duty performance, innovative methodologies, and the utilization of new surveillance equipment.

According to reports from October 2024, approximately 130 to 150 militants were observed waiting at launchpads across the LoC, with numbers sometimes fluctuating slightly higher. These militants were also believed to be aiming to infiltrate into the Kashmir Valley as winter approached. Security forces have stated they are taking these numbers into account when forming strategies to foil any attempts.

In light of these challenges, the BSF continues to adapt its strategies and training to address the evolving threats along the LoC. This includes training soldiers in traditional border management techniques, weapon handling, and fieldcraft, as well as equipping them with the latest technological advancements.
