Following India's triumph in the Asia Cup 2025, captain Suryakumar Yadav has pledged his entire match fees from the tournament to the Indian Armed Forces and the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. This decision was announced shortly after India secured a thrilling five-wicket victory against Pakistan in the final held in Dubai.
Yadav stated that he wanted to donate his match fees from all the games he played in the tournament to the Indian Army. He also expressed his support for the families affected by the Pahalgam terror attack. In a post on X, Yadav said, "I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts. Jai Hind".
Indian team players earn ₹4 lakh for each T20 game. With Suryakumar Yadav playing in all seven games of the tournament, his donation amounts to ₹28 lakh.
The Asia Cup victory saw India secure their ninth title. In a nail-biting final against Pakistan, India chased down a target of 147 runs, with Tilak Varma scoring an unbeaten 69. India had a shaky start, but partnerships between Varma, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube guided the team to victory.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a ₹21 crore prize for the team and support staff after the Asia Cup win. Tilak Varma was named Player of the Match for his performance in the final, while Abhishek Sharma was awarded Player of the Tournament. Kuldeep Yadav was named Most Valuable Player of the Asia Cup 2025.
However, the victory was marred by controversy when the Indian team refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and Pakistani Minister Mohsin Naqvi during the presentation ceremony.
Following India's victory, Pakistan's captain, Salman Ali Agha, also announced that his team would donate their match fees to civilians affected by an "Indian attack".
