Bollywood filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan recently sparked a buzz after declaring that she considers a particular Indian singer to be superior to global music icons such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, and Rihanna. The singer in question is none other than Sunidhi Chauhan.
Khan made the bold statement during a recent cooking vlog filmed at Chauhan's Mumbai residence. Introducing Chauhan at the beginning of the vlog, Khan exclaimed, "Guys, we have here the one and only, amazing singer, my most favourite ever in the world, better than Mariah Carey, Rita Ora, Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift... You name it, and she is better than the best. She is the best singer in the entire world, Sunidhi".
Khan further reminisced about Chauhan's early performances, recalling how she used to perform at shows with Bollywood legends like Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi when she was just a child. According to Khan, even at the young age of six or seven, Chauhan would captivate the audience and "bring the stadium down with her songs".
Khan also shared that she has known Sunidhi since she was around seven or eight years old. She remembered how Sunidhi would steal the limelight with her singing skills during Amitabh Bachchan and Sridevi's shows.
The praise comes amidst Khan's active engagement with social media, particularly her cooking vlogs, which often feature interactions with various celebrities. In one instance, while at actor Rohit Saraf's home, Khan jokingly mentioned that Deepika Padukone took less time to agree to be on her show than it took Rohit's mother to make her on-screen debut in the vlog.
However, Khan has also faced scrutiny recently. Earlier this year, a criminal complaint was filed against her for allegedly making derogatory remarks about the Hindu festival of Holi, where she reportedly used a casteist slur. The complaint was filed by Vikash Fhatak, also known as Hindustani Bhau, who claimed that Khan's comments hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community.
Despite the controversy, Khan continues to be a prominent figure in Bollywood, known for her choreography and filmmaking. Her appearance as a guest judge on "India's Got Talent" also drew attention, particularly when she praised a contestant for an emotional rap performance dedicated to his mother.
