Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 today at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka, New Delhi. The event, which is Asia's largest telecom, media, and technology event, is jointly organized by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). The four-day event will be held from October 8 to 11.
The theme for this year's IMC is "Innovate to Transform," which highlights India's increasing role in spearheading digital transformation and utilizing innovation for economic and societal advancement. IMC 2025 is expected to gather global leaders, policymakers, industry experts, and innovators to display the latest progress in telecom and emerging technologies.
IMC 2025 will focus on key areas including 6G, quantum communications, semiconductors, optical networks, and cyber fraud prevention, showcasing India's vision to strengthen its position in next-generation connectivity and digital security. The event will feature over 1,600 new technology use-cases in various areas like 5G and 6G, artificial intelligence, smart mobility, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and green technology. It will also host more than 100 sessions and feature 800 speakers from around the world.
More than 400 companies, around 7,000 global delegates, and over 150,000 visitors from over 150 countries are expected to participate in this year's edition. IMC 2025 is expected to bolster India's international partnerships, with delegations from countries including Japan, Canada, the United Kingdom, Russia, Ireland, and Austria participating in the event.
Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia visited the IMC 2025 venue on Monday to assess the final preparations ahead of the Prime Minister's inauguration. Scindia stated that IMC 2025 would establish a new standard for connectivity, where telecommunications would become the main route for technologies like 5G, AI, ML, IoT, and satellite communications to connect India and the world. He added that the Prime Minister has carefully laid out a strategy for technological empowerment over the past eleven years, with the goal of envisioning an innovative, self-reliant, and empowered India that drives global progress.
According to a press release by PIB, the Cellular Operators Association of India's IMC 2025 will be held under the theme 'Innovate to Transform', highlighting India's commitment to leveraging innovation for digital transformation and societal progress. The event will focus on key themes including optical communications, semiconductors in telecom, quantum communications, 6G, and fraud risk indicators, reflecting India's strategic priorities in next-generation connectivity, digital sovereignty, cyber fraud prevention, and global technology leadership.
IMC 2025 aims to reinforce India's leadership in global digital transformation and its growing influence in the telecom and technology ecosystem. Union Minister Scindia said that it would not be an exaggeration to say that the India Mobile Congress has reached the level of becoming the Asia Mobile Congress. The main event will include the International Bharat 6G Symposium, International AI Summit, and the Cyber Security Summit.
