Indian Air Force's 93rd Anniversary: Hindon Airbase Celebrations Feature Op Sindoor and Airpower Display.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) commemorated its 93rd anniversary on October 8, 2025, with a spectacular display of aerial prowess and military precision at Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad. The event not only celebrated the IAF's rich history and contributions to national security but also highlighted its modern capabilities and operational readiness. This year's celebration placed a special emphasis on "Op Sindoor," showcasing the IAF's decisive role in responding to recent security challenges.

Established on October 8, 1932, the Indian Air Force has grown from a modest beginning of six officers and four aircraft into one of the world's most formidable air forces. Air Force Day is observed annually to honor the dedication, skill, and courage of the air warriors who safeguard the nation's skies.

The celebrations at Hindon Air Base featured a grand parade, flypasts by a diverse range of aircraft, and demonstrations of the IAF's advanced technological capabilities. The parade included fighter jets like the Rafale, Sukhoi Su-30MKI, and MiG-29, along with India's indigenous Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C), the C-17 Globemaster III, the indigenous Akash Surface-to-Air Missile System, the C-130J Hercules, Apache attack helicopters fitted with Longbow radar, and the Advanced Light Helicopter.

Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh inspected the parade and took the salute at the event, underscoring the IAF's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, along with the chiefs of the Army and Navy, also paid tribute to the fallen heroes at the National War Memorial, reaffirming the unified commitment of the Indian armed forces to the nation.

A key highlight of this year's Air Force Day was the emphasis on "Op Sindoor". Air Chief Marshal Singh emphasized that Operation Sindoor was a defining moment that showcased the IAF's precision, strength, and unity of purpose in responding to threats against the nation. He stated that the operation demonstrated how India's air power can deliver a firm and calibrated response to any challenge.

Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The operation involved precise strikes against terror infrastructure in Pakistan-controlled territories. The IAF's "bold and precise" attacks during Operation Sindoor restored the importance of offensive air action, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said. He added that the IAF proved to the world how air power can be effectively used in shaping military outcomes in just a few days. According to Air Chief Marshal Singh, India's newly inducted long-range surface-to-air missiles played a crucial role in crippling Pakistan's operations during Operation Sindoor. He revealed that these missiles achieved a kill at a range of over 300 km.

President Droupadi Murmu extended greetings to all air warriors, veterans, and their families on Air Force Day. She praised the IAF for its exemplary courage, commitment, and excellence in service to the nation, noting their selfless contributions during disasters and humanitarian missions.

The Indian Air Force's motto, "Nabha Sparsham Deeptam," meaning "Touch the Sky with Glory," reflects the force's courage, discipline, and dedication to the nation. As the IAF continues to modernize and adapt to emerging challenges, Air Force Day 2025 served as a powerful reminder of its vital role in safeguarding India's security and sovereignty.
