Kanpur, India – A blast in Kanpur’s bustling Mishri Bazaar injured six people on Wednesday evening. The explosion, which occurred around 7:15 PM, involved two parked scooters in the Mishri Bazaar area, under the Moolganj police station limits.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Ashutosh Kumar, confirmed that all the injured are receiving treatment and are out of danger. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the blast, with forensic teams on the scene.

Initial reports indicate that the blast took place outside Abdul Hameed's plastic shop in Mishri Bazaar. The sound of the explosion was heard up to 500 meters away, causing panic in the market as shops were scattered and windows of nearby houses shattered.

Among the injured, Suhana (70), Abdul (60), Riyadueen (70), and Ashwani Kumar (50) sustained serious injuries and were referred to KGMU Lucknow with burns covering more than 50 percent of their bodies. Two minors, Mursaleen and Raees, were also among those injured.

Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal and forces from nearby stations, along with the Bomb Disposal Squad, arrived at the scene. Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning shopkeepers to determine the cause of the explosion and trace the scooter owners. Authorities are exploring the possibility that the explosion was either accidental or a deliberate act. A preliminary lab test indicated the use of low-grade explosives, similar to those used in firecrackers.

Six shops in the market sustained damage, with one shop's false ceiling collapsing and some walls cracking.
