Rishab Shetty's "Kantara: Chapter 1" has achieved a phenomenal feat at the box office, crossing the ₹350 crore mark in India in just nine days. The film's domestic net total reached ₹357.78 crore after collecting an estimated ₹20.38 crore on its second Friday.
Global Success
The movie has become the highest-grossing film worldwide for the week of its release, surpassing major international releases. "Kantara: Chapter 1" has grossed an estimated ₹379 crore in India, with an additional ₹67 crore coming from overseas markets, bringing its total worldwide collection to ₹446 crore within seven days. Some reports indicate that the movie has already crossed ₹500 crore worldwide. Hombale Films, the production company behind the movie, has declared that the movie has minted ₹509 crore worldwide in its first week.
Domestic Performance
"Kantara: Chapter 1" has shown impressive growth since its release. The film had a strong opening day, collecting ₹62 crore across all languages. The Kannada version contributed ₹19.6 crore, followed by the Hindi version with ₹18.5 crore, Telugu with ₹13 crore, Tamil with ₹5.5 crore, and Malayalam with ₹5.25 crore. The Hindi version of the film has surpassed the lifetime collection of "Pushpa: The Rise" in just eight days. "Kantara Chapter 1" earned ₹7 crore on day eight in Hindi, with the net box office collection in India landing at ₹110.10 crore. The film has also surpassed "Sky Force" to record the 6th highest-opening week in Hindi cinema.
Language-Wise Collection
Both the original Kannada version and the Hindi dub of "Kantara: Chapter 1" have earned over ₹100 crore net in India. The Telugu version has also performed well, with over ₹60 crore in net collections, while the Malayalam and Tamil dubs have each earned over ₹20 crore.
Occupancy Rates
"Kantara Chapter 1" has seen varied occupancy rates across different linguistic markets. On October 9, 2025, Kannada screenings had an average occupancy of 45.69%, with night shows reaching as high as 64.56%. Telugu occupancy was at 21.42%, while the Hindi version saw 14.63%. Tamil screenings had a stronger showing with 29.67%, and Malayalam screenings reported an occupancy of 24.81%.
Records
With its performance, the film has now gone on to become the 18th biggest hit of Indian Cinema. The film has surpassed Rajinikanth's "Jailer's" lifetime collection of Rs 348.55 crore to claim the 18th position.
