Kareena Kapoor Khan recently shared insights into her family dynamics with Saif Ali Khan and their two sons, Taimur and Jehangir (Jeh). In a recent appearance on Soha Ali Khan's podcast, "All About Her," Kareena discussed her parenting experiences, her relationship with Saif, and the unique qualities that strengthen their family bond.
One of the key revelations was about the contrasting parenting styles she and Saif follow. Kareena described Saif as taking a more laid-back approach, drawing from his prior experience as a father to four children. "Saif and I are quite distinct in our styles since he has prior experience as a father. He brings a wealth of knowledge," Kareena remarked. She lauded him as "an amazing father to all his four children," emphasizing his bravery, affection, nurturing nature, and constant presence.
Kareena also pointed out that their children seem to be "more scared" of Saif, implying he can be sterner when necessary. "Neither of us gets really angry. However, if there's something that needs to be accomplished, they know to say, okay, you know, Abba can get quite stern. I think the boys are a bit more intimidated by Saif than by me".
In contrast, Kareena identifies herself as a "helicopter mom," admitting she can be overprotective. She mentioned that Saif often helps her stay grounded, advising her to relax and be the calm one when she gets anxious. "If I'm being overly cautious or acting like a helicopter mom, he's always there to say, no, just take it easy," she explained. She feels that Saif's easygoing nature complements her anxious tendencies, creating a "nice balance".
Kareena also shared some lighthearted moments, revealing a friendly rivalry between her and Saif regarding their children's affection. "Yes, we definitely compete over who receives more hugs!" she chuckled. She added that they playfully sulk if the children favor one parent over the other, finding amusement in this dynamic.
Furthermore, Kareena commended Saif for his ability to bond with their sons, especially through quality time. She believes fathers should be friends with their sons, helping them feel comfortable, which Saif excels at. While she handles much of the planning, such as what they wear and eat, Saif enjoys being the playful parent, engaging in sports and playing music with them. “But I think he's more inclined to engage in sports with them, whether it's cricket or football, and he loves playing the guitar and jumping around with them".
Kareena and Saif fell in love on the sets of "Tashan" in 2008 and married in 2012. They welcomed their first son, Taimur, in 2016 and their second, Jehangir, in 2021.
On the work front, Kareena will be seen alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran in "Daayra," directed by Meghna Gulzar, while Saif is filming Priyadarshan's "Haiwaan" and is expected to begin work on "Race 4" soon.
Kareena and Saif also emphasize the importance of setting a healthy example for their children by incorporating fitness into their daily lives. They enjoy working out and doing yoga together, involving their sons in their fitness routines. They believe in showing their children through actions rather than just words the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
