Lucknow, October 11, 2025 – A 16-year-old Dalit student has allegedly been raped by five unidentified men in Lucknow. The incident occurred on Saturday when the girl was traveling with an acquaintance.
According to Vikash Kumar Pandey, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Krishnanagar, the girl was on her way to visit a relative around 12 pm. She was riding a motorcycle with an acquaintance when they stopped in a mango orchard near a petrol pump under the Banthara police station limits to talk. It was at this point that five unknown men approached them.
The men reportedly assaulted the girl's acquaintance, causing him to flee the scene. The group then allegedly raped the girl and warned her against reporting the incident to anyone. After the assault, the survivor informed a male relative, who then alerted the police.
Banthara Station House Officer Rana Rajesh Kumar confirmed the incident and stated that the girl's medical examination is currently underway. He also mentioned that several teams have been formed to identify and arrest the accused. Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused are locals from nearby villages.
This incident follows a disturbing pattern of violence against Dalit women in the region. In July 2025, Lucknow police filed a chargesheet within 24 hours in a separate case involving the rape of a seven-year-old Dalit girl. In August 2025, a 16-year-old Dalit girl was reportedly abducted and raped by four individuals in the Bakshi Ka Talab area of Lucknow.
The police have registered a case and are currently investigating. They are also providing the minor with medical attention and psychological support.
