Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa arrived in New Delhi on Monday, October 13, 2025, for a four-day state visit to India. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, welcomed him at the airport. President Ukhnaa was also accorded a Guard of Honour and a ceremonial welcome.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal welcomed the Mongolian President and noted the deep civilizational bonds between the two countries. Jaiswal mentioned that President Ukhnaa received a Guard of Honour and ceremonial welcome at the airport and was warmly received by Minister Mohol.
President Ukhnaa's visit, which will last from October 13 to 16, occurs during the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Mongolia. During his visit, President Ukhnaa is scheduled to meet with Indian President Droupadi Murmu, who will also host a banquet in his honor. He will also hold formal talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries and address cooperation in regional and international arenas. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar are also expected to meet with President Ukhnaa.
This visit marks Khurelsukh Ukhnaa's first visit to India as the Head of State of Mongolia. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials, business leaders, and cultural representatives.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized that India and Mongolia are strategic partners, spiritual neighbors, and "third neighbors". The MEA also stated that the visit would allow leaders to review their bilateral relations, establish a vision for their strategic partnership, and exchange views on global issues.
The partnership between India and Mongolia includes defense and security, parliamentary exchanges, development, energy, mining, information technology, education, healthcare, and cultural cooperation.
Ahead of the Mongolian President's arrival, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh criticized the Central Government for not including Ladakh in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution. Ramesh also acknowledged the contributions of the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche to strengthening India-Mongolia relations.
