Malayalam cinema's megastar Mammootty has landed in London to begin filming the next schedule of the highly anticipated political espionage thriller, Patriot. A video of the actor's arrival at London International Airport has gone viral, generating further excitement for the project.
The video, shared by producer Anto Joseph on social media, shows Mammootty being greeted by enthusiastic fans upon his arrival. The actor is seen smiling and exchanging pleasantries before leaving the terminal in a Rolls-Royce.
Patriot, directed by Mahesh Narayanan, is generating significant buzz due to its star-studded cast and intriguing plot. The film brings together Mammootty and Mohanlal on screen after nearly two decades, marking a major event in Malayalam cinema. The cast also includes Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, Nayanthara, Darshana Rajendran, Revathy, and Zarin Shihab.
The film is set against a backdrop of power, surveillance, and state control, and is being touted as a high-stakes political thriller. The teaser, released earlier this month, offers a glimpse into the film's narrative, featuring Mammootty as a retired JAG officer framed for espionage and Mohanlal as a battle-hardened armed forces operative. Fahadh Faasil's character adds another layer of intrigue, expressing concern over the two joining forces.
The London schedule is a key phase of Patriot's production. The team recently wrapped up filming in Hyderabad. Filming in London is expected to continue until mid-December.
Patriot is produced by Anto Joseph Film Company and Kichappu Films, with international co-production by C.R. Salim Productions and Blue Tigers London. The film boasts a talented technical crew, including cinematographer Manush Nandan, music director Sushin Shyam, and editor Mahesh Narayanan.
The film is slated for a grand Vishu 2026 release.
Prior to Patriot, Mammootty will be seen in Kalamkaval, which is expected to be released in November.
