Prashant Kishor, the poll strategist turned politician and founder of the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), has announced he will not be contesting the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Kishor stated that this decision was made in the interest of the party, allowing him to focus on strengthening the organization.
Kishor's decision puts an end to speculation that he would contest from the Raghopur seat, a stronghold of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and currently represented by Tejashwi Yadav. The Jan Suraaj Party has already fielded Chanchal Singh as its candidate from Raghopur, further solidifying Kishor's commitment to focusing on organizational matters.
The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes on November 14. The political landscape in Bihar is heating up, with major alliances like the NDA and Mahagathbandhan preparing for the polls.
Kishor has predicted a defeat for the ruling NDA in Bihar, citing the coalition's inability to finalize seat sharing and candidates. Cracks have also appeared within the NDA, with Upendra Kushwaha expressing dissatisfaction with the seat-sharing arrangement and planning to meet with Amit Shah to discuss the issues.
Meanwhile, the Congress party's Central Election Committee (CEC) has finalized a list of candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections and is coordinating its election campaign with its partners. The BJP has also released its first list of 71 candidates, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.
Kishor emphasized the importance of a significant victory for his party, asserting that a tally of less than 150 seats would be considered a defeat. He believes that a strong performance in Bihar would have a nationwide impact for the Jan Suraaj Party.
