The AI research firm has begun hiring for a "Solutions Architect, Startups" role based in Bengaluru, marking its first formal hiring initiative in India. Kenneth Ang, Talent Partner at OpenAI, announced the opening on LinkedIn, also noting a similar recruitment effort in Seoul, South Korea. The Bengaluru-based position is part of OpenAI's Go-To-Market team, focusing on assisting early-stage companies in building, deploying, and scaling generative AI applications. The Solutions Architect will serve as a technical advisor, guiding startups through ideation, prototyping, and production. OpenAI is seeking candidates with experience in AI/ML, software engineering, or product building, along with strong connections to the Indian startup community.
This hiring move underscores India's growing significance in OpenAI's global roadmap. India has emerged as one of the most dynamic AI markets, boasting a thriving ecosystem of over 100,000 registered startups and a rapidly expanding AI talent pool. In August 2025, the company launched the OpenAI Learning Accelerator, an India-first initiative designed to bring advanced AI to Indian educators and learners through AI research, training, and deployment. Furthermore, OpenAI established an Indian entity, "OpenAI India Private Limited," and plans to open an office in New Delhi.
