The return of Shilpa Shinde to "Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain 2.0" has been met with controversy after her comments regarding Shubhangi Atre, who previously played the role of Angoori Bhabhi, sparked outrage. Actress Falaq Naaz has openly criticized Shinde's remarks, adding to the growing disapproval from viewers and industry insiders.
The controversy began when Shinde, the original Angoori Bhabhi, stated in an interview that there was "no comparison" between her and Atre. She also said, "Bhabhiji Shilpa Shinde hi thi, always,". These comments were perceived by many as dismissive of Atre's nearly decade-long portrayal of the character, which earned her widespread appreciation and contributed significantly to the show's success.
Falaq Naaz shared a video of Shinde's interview on her Instagram story, expressing her disappointment and calling Shinde "rude". Naaz emphasized that Atre had "beautifully" and "sincerely" embodied the character for ten years after Shinde's departure. "With all due respect Shilpa jee….10 saal baad jo aap wapes usi character me wapes aai hain wo character Shubhangi ne baa khubi nibhaya hai, jiya hai… aap to chali gayin thi Tata bye bye Karke show ko," Naaz wrote. This translates to: "With all due respect Shilpa jee... after 10 years, you have returned to the same character, Shubhangi has portrayed and lived that character beautifully... you had left the show saying Tata bye bye".
Naaz further urged Shinde to show "some appreciation and respect" to Atre for her work. She added that if she were in Shinde's position, she would have thanked Atre for keeping the character alive and returning it without any drama. Naaz concluded by saying that Shinde's remarks did not reflect confidence but rather disrespect, describing the situation as "very sad". "You're not being overly confident- you're being rude," Naaz stated.
Falaq's post quickly gained traction online, with many users supporting her stance and applauding her for speaking out. Many felt that Shinde's comments undermined years of hard work and dedication that Atre put into sustaining the character's popularity.
Sourabh Raaj Jain also voiced his support for Shubhangi Atre, criticizing Shinde's alleged lack of "basic decency". Jain pointed out that Atre entertained audiences for around 10 years and was loved throughout.
Shinde's initial departure from "Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai" was due to creative differences and a public fallout with the show's producers. Atre stepped into the role and became synonymous with Angoori Bhabhi for a significant portion of the audience. Recently, Atre was replaced, paving the way for Shinde's return, a decision that had already sparked mixed reactions among fans.
As of now, Shilpa Shinde has not responded to Falaq Naaz's remarks. The incident has ignited discussions about professional courtesy, mutual respect, and acknowledging the contributions of fellow actors in long-running television shows. The debate continues to trend online, highlighting the importance of words and their impact in the entertainment industry.
