Lille Olympique Sporting Club (LOSC), the Ligue 1 football club, has announced it will pursue legal action against a number of its own fans following incidents of racist insults and hate speech during recent away games. The unacceptable behavior occurred in the visitors' section during matches against Red Star Belgrade and Strasbourg last week.

The club released a statement on Monday condemning the actions of these individuals. The statement read that LOSC "strongly condemns the unacceptable behaviour observed, as well as the hateful comments and racist insults made by certain individuals in the visitors' section during trips to Belgrade and Strasbourg last Thursday and Sunday". The club emphasized that such behavior is unacceptable and completely contrary to the values that the club consistently upholds and promotes.

Testimonies and video footage circulating on social media showed some Lille fans shouting racist remarks during Sunday's 2-0 loss at Strasbourg in Ligue 1. Lille also lost 1-0 at Red Star in the Europa League.

In response to these incidents, Lille has taken concrete measures, beginning with identifying the individuals involved. The club is currently undertaking a procedure to identify those fans who engaged in hate speech and racist insults. Following identification, Lille intends to file complaints with the police authorities and pursue legal action against them, seeking appropriate sanctions.
