Ram Charan's upcoming film, "Peddi," is generating significant buzz, and the makers are reportedly planning to release the second single from the film on December 31st. This comes on the heels of the successful launch of the first single, "Chikiri Chikiri," which has already become a viral sensation.
"Chikiri Chikiri," composed by A.R. Rahman and sung by Mohit Chauhan with lyrics from Balaji, has taken the internet by storm. The song showcases Ram Charan's energetic dance moves and has resonated well with audiences. The track has achieved a rare feat, becoming the most-viewed Indian song on YouTube within 24 hours of its release. It amassed a staggering 46 million views across all languages, surpassing records previously held by songs from Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" and Allu Arjun's "Pushpa 2: The Rule". The "Peddi" team celebrated this milestone on social media, acknowledging the record-breaking achievement of Ram Charan, A.R. Rahman, and director Buchi Babu Sana.
"Peddi" is an upcoming Telugu-language action drama film written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru of Vriddhi Cinemas and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 27, 2026, coinciding with Ram Charan's birthday.
The film features Ram Charan in the titular role, alongside Janhvi Kapoor as Achiyyamma, his love interest. The ensemble cast includes Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyenndu in pivotal roles.
Director Buchi Babu Sana has said that he wanted A.R. Rahman to bring the energy and soulfulness of the "Humma" song to "Chikiri Chikiri". He also shared that the word "Chikiri" is a term used in his village to describe naturally beautiful women, which inspired the track. In the film, the hero uses the term to affectionately describe Janhvi Kapoor’s character.
Ram Charan has undergone a significant transformation for the film, sporting a rugged look with a long beard and nose ring, as seen in the teaser released earlier. Filming commenced in Mysuru in November 2024 and continued in Hyderabad, Sri Lanka, and Pune. The cinematography is handled by R. Rathnavelu, and editing is by National Award-winner Navin Nooli. The music rights for the film have been acquired by T-Series for a reported ₹35 crore.
