Western Front Drill Underway as Operation Sindoor Continues: Rajnath Addresses Security Forces' Readiness.

New Delhi: Amidst ongoing regional tensions, the Indian armed forces are maintaining a high state of operational readiness, conducting a major tri-service exercise, named 'Trishul', in the northern Arabian Sea and along the western front with Pakistan. This exercise aims to hone combat skills and ensure preparedness for any potential threats.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reaffirmed on Tuesday that Operation Sindoor remains active, though currently paused. Speaking at the Delhi Defence Dialogue, organized by the Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, Singh emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and prepared in light of the prevailing international security environment. He assured the nation that the probe into the recent car blast near Red Fort is being conducted swiftly and thoroughly, and the findings will be made public soon, and those responsible will be brought to justice.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 people were killed. The operation involved precision strikes against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Indian military sources indicated that approximately 35 to 40 Pakistani Army personnel were killed during the operation, and key terrorist figures were eliminated.

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan highlighted Operation Sindoor as a prime example of modern warfare, characterized by the effective deployment of precision strike capabilities, network-centric operations, digitized intelligence, and multi-domain tactics within a compressed timeframe. He stressed the importance of winning in warfare, emphasizing that there are no consolation prizes in conflict, where the stakes involve the very fate and survival of nations.

The country's political leadership has consistently reiterated that Operation Sindoor is merely "paused," with full operational military preparedness being maintained to respond to any potential misadventure from Pakistan. The government held an all-party meeting on May 8, 2025, to brief opposition parties about the operation. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju noted the maturity and unity displayed by all political parties during this sensitive time.

During the all-party meeting, leaders offered suggestions, and the government assured them that national security interests would be protected. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi suggested a global campaign against the Resistance Front (TRF) and urged the US to designate it as a terrorist organization. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge affirmed his party's support for the government in this hour of crisis.

Singh has emphasized India's commitment to responding decisively to security threats without engaging in aggressive expansionism. He also underscored the importance of adapting to the rapidly changing nature of modern warfare by prioritizing research and development in the defence sector. He noted that new technologies, strategies, and equipment are emerging constantly, requiring continuous adaptation.

The Defence Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for popularizing yoga globally and highlighted that the practice provides a holistic approach to health & well-being. He said that the Indian Armed Forces displayed restraint, balance and precision during Operation Sindoor, which is a reflection of their inner strength attained by practicing Yoga.

The Indian Navy was also ready to strike Karachi during Operation Sindoor. The operation also reflects India's firm resolve against terrorism and showcases the capability and determination of its military power.
