The short documentary "Where The Heart Is" is set to screen at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) after a successful run at various film festivals. IFFI, which has been running since 1952, is seen as a place that celebrates stories, cinema, and shared emotions.
IFFI 2025 promises a diverse mix of world cinema and Indian storytelling, reflecting Goa’s growing cultural influence. This year, the festival has attracted an unprecedented 3,400 film submissions from 127 countries. IFFI is scheduled to begin with a colorful parade on November 20, 2025, showcasing Indian culture with floats from production houses, states, and cultural groups.
"Where The Heart Is" has garnered attention for its unique narrative and cinematic approach. The film is expected to resonate with audiences at IFFI, known for attracting a diverse mix of filmmakers, artists, and audiences from around the world.
IFFI 2025 will also honor legendary figures such as Guru Dutt, Ritwik Ghatak, Raj Khosla, P Bhanumathi, Bhupen Hazarika, and Salil Chowdhury with centenary tributes, showcasing restored versions of their iconic works. Superstar Rajinikanth will be felicitated at the closing ceremony for his 50 years in cinema. The festival will showcase over 50 films by women directors, 21 Oscar entries, and over 50 debut works, along with award-winning films from leading global festivals.
The festival is incorporating new elements such as AI-powered storytelling labs and curated sections like “Experimental Films,” “Macabre Dreams,” and “Docu-Montage”. Segments like “UNICEF” and “Mission LIFE” will bring together cinema and sustainability. Partner country and spotlight packages will feature countries like Spain and Australia.
The 56th edition of IFFI is expected to draw 7,500 delegates. Open-air screenings will be organized at Miramar beach, Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, and Vagator beach. Iffi Miles, featuring performances and food stalls, will be held outside the Old GMC complex every evening for local entertainment.
