'Don't Play With Me': Mamata Banerjee Slams BJP Over Cancelled Chopper Ride
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the cancellation of her helicopter ride to Bongaon on Tuesday. Banerjee, visibly agitated, warned the opposition party against engaging in what she described as political "games," asserting that such tactics would not intimidate her.
Banerjee was scheduled to arrive in Bongaon, located in North 24 Parganas, at 12:30 PM. However, she stated that she received notification at 10:00 AM that her helicopter ride had been canceled. The Chief Minister interpreted this as a deliberate act of sabotage by the BJP.
"Don't play with me," Banerjee declared, suggesting the BJP was mistaken if they believed such actions would corner her. She launched a broadside against her political rivals, leveling accusations of fraudulent practices to secure electoral victories. Banerjee has been a vocal critic of the BJP, particularly concerning their strategies in West Bengal.
The incident occurred amidst heightened political activity in the state, with the BJP seemingly intensifying its focus on the upcoming 2026 West Bengal assembly elections. Banerjee has claimed that the BJP is willing to do anything to win Bengal, even bargaining with Gujarat.
This isn't the first time Banerjee has clashed with the BJP. She recently wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEO) Gyanesh Kumar, urging his "immediate intervention" regarding certain issues. Banerjee expressed concerns about inadequate planning and a lack of training surrounding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in West Bengal and requested that it be halted.
The political climate in West Bengal remains charged as the state gears up for future elections. Banerjee's strong rhetoric and accusations against the BJP suggest a further escalation of tensions between the two parties. The cancellation of the helicopter ride has seemingly added fuel to the fire, prompting a fierce response from the Chief Minister.
