Evening Newswrap: PM Modi Hoists Dharma Dhwaj at Ram Temple; Assam CM Brands Zubeen Garg's Death 'Plain Murder' & More

Ayodhya witnessed a historic moment as Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the 'Dharma Dhwaj' atop the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. The saffron flag, featuring Om, the Sun, and the Kovidara tree, symbolizes key principles of Sanatan Dharma. The event marked the formal completion of the temple's construction. The ceremony, known as 'Dhwaj Arohan', took place around noon amidst chants of 'Jai Shri Ram'. The flag is a right-angled triangular saffron flag, measuring 10 feet high and 20 feet long, bearing the image of a radiant Sun, an 'Om', and the Kovidara tree.

PM Modi described the day as one where "wounds of centuries" were healing, marking the fulfillment of a 500-year civilizational resolve. He emphasized that the flag represented the glory of Ram Rajya and embodied a story of struggle and perseverance. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of inclusivity, stating that "Our Ram does not discriminate, and we too are moving forward with the same spirit".

In Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asserted in the state assembly that the death of singer Zubeen Garg was a "plain and simple murder". Sarma stated that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Garg's death has added murder charges to the case. He claimed that the Assam Police were sure it was not a case of culpable homicide after a preliminary probe. According to Sarma, Section 103 of the BNS was added to the case within three days of Garg's death.

The Chief Minister said that seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, and 252 witnesses have been examined. The SIT has also seized 29 items related to the case. Sarma, who also holds the home portfolio, stated that the chargesheet in the murder case would be submitted in December, after which the probe would be expanded to include negligence and criminal breach of trust. He further claimed that the motive behind the crime would shock the people of the state. Zubeen Garg passed away on September 19 in Singapore.
