Operation Sindoor Success: CISF Personnel Honored with Coveted DG's Disk for Outstanding Service and Dedication.

New Delhi: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has honored 19 of its personnel with the Director General's (DG) Disc for their exceptional bravery and operational performance during "Operation Sindoor". The ceremony, held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, recognized the personnel's pivotal role in safeguarding the Uri Hydro Electric Power Projects (UHEP-I and II) in Jammu & Kashmir during a critical phase of cross-border hostilities in May 2025.

Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian military in response to a terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation targeted terror infrastructure and defense installations in Pakistan. Subsequently, the Pakistan Army retaliated with indiscriminate shelling on Indian military facilities and civilian settlements along the border, endangering vital infrastructure, including the Uri hydro-power projects.

The Uri hydropower installation, located approximately 8-10 kilometers from the Line of Control (LoC), is protected by the CISF, placing its personnel at the forefront of sudden escalations in hostilities. According to a CISF statement, the 19 personnel displayed "exemplary courage and composure" in the face of heavy shelling and firing from Pakistan.

Leading the CISF teams were Commandant Ravi Yadav, Deputy Commandant Manohar Singh, and Assistant Commandant Subash Kumar. Despite the severe risk to their own lives amidst heavy enemy fire, these CISF teams swiftly initiated protective measures. Their actions were aimed at shielding the installations and the surrounding townships from harm. The teams conducted real-time analysis of incoming shell trajectories, identified safe zones, and organized the relocation of residents to bunker shelters.

The CISF personnel undertook a door-to-door evacuation of approximately 250 civilians, including women, children, NHPC (National Hydroelectric Power Corporation) staff, and their families, from the shelling-hit areas. The CISF ensured the safe evacuation of around 250 civilians, preventing any loss of life. Even as rounds landed dangerously close to the premises, the personnel continued to reinforce bunkers, maintain communication lines through POLNET and satellite systems, and provide emergency assistance.

In addition to evacuation efforts, the CISF personnel also neutralized hostile drones targeting Indian installations and secured armory stockpiles by swiftly redistributing weapons to prevent potential destruction. Throughout the crisis, the "integrity" of critical national assets remained intact due to the vigilance and preparedness of the troops.

CISF Director General Praveer Ranjan awarded the DG's Disc to the 19 personnel, symbolizing the force's recognition of their outstanding bravery and resolute duty. The DG's Disc is a medallion provided by the director general of the force.
