Israel PM Confident in India's Security; New Visit Date Near Finalization Amidst Strong Bilateral Ties.

Amidst reports of a postponed visit, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has asserted that Netanyahu has "full confidence" in India's security apparatus under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two countries are currently coordinating to finalize a new date for the visit.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in Israel addressed the situation via a post on X, stating, "Israel's bond with India and between Prime Minister Netanyahu and Prime Minister @narendramodi is very strong". The PMO emphasized Netanyahu's confidence in India's security and confirmed that teams from both nations are actively working to schedule the visit.

The announcement follows reports that the original December trip was postponed. Initial speculation suggested the postponement stemmed from security concerns following a recent terrorist attack in Delhi. On November 10, 2025, an explosion near the Red Fort resulted in fifteen fatalities and numerous injuries. Some reports linked the postponement to this event. However, government sources in India have refuted these claims, calling them "misleading" and "factually incorrect". They cautioned against drawing connections between the postponement and the Delhi blast, deeming such linkages "irresponsible".

Netanyahu's planned visit is significant, as it would be his first official trip to India since January 2018. This follows Prime Minister Modi's historic visit to Israel in 2017, marking the first time an Indian Prime Minister had visited the country.

In early October, Prime Minister Modi spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu to congratulate him on the progress of the Gaza Peace Plan, which was facilitated by former US President Donald Trump. Modi conveyed his hopes that the agreement would lead to the release of hostages and increased humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, ultimately fostering lasting peace in the region.

Despite the postponement, the strong relationship between India and Israel continues. In recent years, Israel has become an important ally for India, with cooperation expanding across technology, defense, and strategic domains. Just last week, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal concluded a three-day visit to Israel, meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu and other key leaders to discuss issues related to the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is expected to significantly boost trade and investment between the two countries.
