13th JSW-TOI Earth Care Awards: Recognizing Climate Action Leaders and Innovators - Enter Now!

The JSW-TOI Earth Care Awards (ECA) are back for their 13th edition, inviting entries from individuals and organizations across all fields of climate action. Since its inception in 2008, the Earth Care Awards, a collaborative effort between JSW and The Times of India, has grown into a prominent platform that recognizes green innovations from various sectors throughout India. These sectors include industries, enterprises, non-profit organizations, non-governmental entities, and grassroots-level organizations. The 13th edition aims to highlight impactful, scalable, and innovative solutions that address the challenges posed by climate change.

The Earth Care Awards seek to recognize visionaries and innovators who are actively responding to the adversities of climate change. As the world increasingly focuses on strategies for climate action, the awards emphasize the need for inclusivity, involving multiple sectors and stakeholders to develop long-term solutions that are both practical and beneficial.

The awards feature several categories, each designed to highlight unique contributions and breakthroughs in climate action. A new category has been added this year: Communicators for Climate Action. This category will honor communicators who are using creative media to spotlight climate issues, inspire action, and reshape public perception.

The JSW-TOI Earth Care Awards also include the Young Climate Champions (YCC) Programme. This program engages with young minds through workshops in colleges across India, with the goal of identifying and recognizing innovative and practical climate solutions. Through specially designed presentations, the program aims to reach a large number of students and encourage them to compete for the Earth Care Award.

The evaluation criteria for the awards include: Innovation and Distinctiveness within the Industry/Sector, Tangible and Intangible Benefits, and Overcoming Challenges. The tangible benefits include cost savings and resource efficiency, while intangible benefits include community engagement and awareness improvement.

The first-ever Global Stocktake of international climate ambitions (COP 28, UAE, 2023) signaled the beginning of the end of the fossil fuel era, calling upon the parties to speed up action in all areas of climate action by 2030. These actions include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing resilience to the changing climate, and providing vulnerable countries with financial and technological support to combat climate change. The JSW Earth Care Awards are a testament to the power of innovation and collaboration in addressing climate change.

Entries for the 13th edition of the Earth Care Awards were open until December 1, 2024, with the awards evening scheduled for April 16, 2025.
