Tesla's Inaugural Integrated Experience Center in India: Unveiling Elon Musk's Vision and Key Details

Tesla, led by Elon Musk, has inaugurated its first all-encompassing experience center in India, marking a significant step in the company's expansion within the country. The center is located at Orchid Business Park in Gurugram and is set to be operational starting November 27, 2025.

This new Gurugram facility distinguishes itself from Tesla's earlier Indian ventures in Mumbai and Delhi, which primarily functioned as display spaces. The Gurugram center provides a comprehensive suite of services, integrating retail operations, after-sales support, vehicle delivery, and charging infrastructure all in one location. Sharad Agarwal, formerly the head of Lamborghini India, leads the new center. He assumed his leadership role in November and is expected to fortify Tesla's presence in the premium EV sector.

The center aims to cater to Tesla's expanding customer base in North India, offering visitors the opportunity to explore Tesla's EV technologies, test drive the Model Y, access after-sales support, and utilize V4 Superchargers for vehicle charging. In addition to these services, Tesla has showcased its Optimus Gen 2 humanoid robot at the Gurugram facility, allowing potential customers to view the company's technological advancements.

Tesla formally entered the Indian market earlier in 2025, making it the 50th global market for the company. Currently, Tesla offers two imported Model Y variants, which are shipped from Shanghai. These models are subject to a 70% import duty, making them approximately 30% more expensive than in the United States. The Model Y is priced starting from Rs 59.89 lakh. The Model Y is available in Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive trims. The Rear-Wheel Drive trim has a range of 500km (WLTP) and can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds, while the Long Range variant offers a range of 661km (WLTP) and accelerates from 0-100kmph in 5.6 seconds. Both trims have a top speed of 201kmph.

Tesla's expansion in India includes experience centers in Mumbai and Delhi, along with three operational public charging locations. With the upcoming launch of a charging site at One Horizon in Gurugram, Tesla will soon have a network of four charging stations across India, equipped with a total of 16 Superchargers and 10 Destination Chargers. Tesla states that the Model Y can gain up to 275 km of range in 15 minutes at a Supercharger, and the network boasts a 99.95% uptime.

Despite these developments, Tesla's sales in India have been modest. Data indicates that Tesla sold 104 units in September and October, with the Model Y leading in the luxury EV segment. Overall, Tesla has registered 118 vehicles in India in 2025, including 40 units in October.

The opening of the all-in-one center in Gurugram signals Tesla's commitment to strengthening its retail network and providing comprehensive support to its Indian customer base.
